Cooking Class: Squash the Cold & Flu (Morning Class)

Cold and flu season is fast approaching. One of the best ways to prevent illness is to boost your immune system using food. In this class we’ll review some of the best known immune boosting foods that are readily available at your local market. We always try to focus on seasonal & local produce, so this class will include a variety of squash and pumpkins. We’ll show you how to “squash” illness by demonstrating 6 different recipes. You’ll get to taste all the delicious food and take home the recipes. In this class we’ll be making: •ImmuniTea chai latte •Immune boosting change of season herbal elixir •Roasted pumpkin soup with toasted pumpkin seeds and cashew cream •Immune defense salad with ginger miso dressing •Acorn squash & rosemary dip •Pumpkin spiced muffins Note: This is a vegan class. All the recipes prepared and sampled in the class are plant based as well as gluten-free and dairy-free. This class will take place on Thursday, October 25, 2012 from 11:00am to 2:00pm (evening class time also available). It will be held in a wonderful kitchen located 15 minutes from Collingwood. Smart Serve Georgian College - SGB

The Smart Serve training program gives liquor servers the information they need to understand and implement the skills of responsible service. Topics include recognizing signs of intoxication and the server’s responsibilities and obligations under the law. It is Georgian College policy that anyone 16 year of age older can take the Smart Serve course. Continuous Intake.

Learn to Sew

Learn to Sew October 25 – November 29 6-9pm $159 For the beginner. Learn machine stitching, hand stitching, hemming, simple alterations, understand basic pattern instructions and in the end sew a simple garment. Sewing takes place in class. A sewing machine is required.
